Damaged Hair Treatment: Silicon Mix

Monday, 29 April 2013

Hey Dolls,

So I made an impulse purchase a few weeks ago whist having a browse through youtube videos as you do when you're a little bit of a product junkie like me . So dry hair is something I have to deal with on an everyday basis due to having bleached hair my locks get a little damaged which leads to bad hair days and let's be honest a bad hair day means a bad day haha.  Whilst watching makeupbycamillia's hair care video she mentioned the Silicone Mix Hair conditioner which she has been using for years and just by looking at heir shiny long hair I was convinced I need this hair mask in my life asap so as soon as I finished watching the video I made sure it was on it's way to me ,oh by the way check out hair videos she's absolutely gorgeous and does great make up tutorials.

SILICONE MIX : Retails at £12.50 for 225g and a little goes a long way.

What is Silicone Mix:  A deep conditioning treatment which helps to restore health , shine and softness of dry damaged and weak hair.

My thoughts: I think this is an awesome product, just after one use I felt a difference in my hair texture, although it did not repair my split ends it made them look so much better and left my hair silky soft. I use this as a deep treatment twice a week by applying it to damp hair and leaving it on for one to three hours depending how much time I have and then I wash it off in the shower, it can also be used as a conditioner after you shampoo which I have also done but personally I prefer using it as a treatment rather than a conditioner.

There is one disadvantage of this product for me and it's the scent it's horrible however if you use it as a treatment and shampoo your hair afterwards the smell will go away so that's not an issue for me , I am willing to put up with the smell whilst its conditioning my hair.

Another thing I have to say is that , you may notice your hair get's greasier quicker after which is something I noticed , but it is nothing a good dry shampoo can't fix and having seen results with this product I will continue to use it but possibly reduce it to once a week once I am happy with the condition of my hair.

The formula of this product is very thick and creamy and applies on to the hair really easily also washes off easily which is a big plus as I find that with some deep treatments they tend to linger in your hair and are hard to wash off.

Overall this is a great treatment for dry , damaged hair and I am now contemplating buying the whole range from the brand since I have been very pleased with the results of this conditioner.

Have you ever tried the Silicone Mix Products?

    1. Everything I read about this product, which you didn't mention, was that it is to be used over your conditioner because its more of a sealer than a conditioner- one comment I found said that it can actually dry your hair if it is used along without applying your conditioner first. The main ingredient is a mineral oil so it sits on top of the hair without penetrating the hair shaft at all- just as mineral oil on your skin can still leave your skin feeling drying from the inside out. Just a little FYI---

  5. I have this product but the bambu version and it smells really good.. maybe you should try that one out. Not really sure if they smell differently but I am assuming they do if you don't like the smell of the original.

    Hope this helps!

  33. This conditioner is very popular in the Dominican culture. I have super super curly, frizzy, dry, damaged, etc., hair that is hard to manage. I have been using this product since I was young and it is amazing. I don't use any mouse or gel or spray in my hair, I use this product and my curls always look great. Because silicon doesn't penetrate the scalp and just sits, it is great to style your crazy curly hair and leaves it shiny, soft and healthy. However, every hair is different and would only recommend using this to style is you have coarse hair. Enjoy and this is a must have.

    1. Amen to that. It is also popular in Brazil and makes my hair look and feel amazing. I always come back to my Silicon Mix Conditioner regardless of what new products I try. They have a new silicon mix argan oil range which I much prefer to the original. The scent is much milder and I feel like it gives my hair more shine than the Hidratante version.
